The Utah Design Exhibit began in 2017 as an annual fine furniture gallery event. The first exhibit, held at Clubhouse on South Temple, consisted of student work from the University of Utah and Salt Lake Community College and featured several professional furniture builders from around the Wasatch Front.

Since then the exhibit has grown in attendance and participation drawing roughly 400 attendees in 2019 to see 30 furniture builders and interior designers from around the country.
